About the artist
Maryanne was born and raised at Alcoota Station in the Central Desert Region of the Northern Territory where she lived with her family. Maryanne started painting in her teens under the guidance and support of her grandmother. Maryanne moved to Engawala Community where she now lives with her family and is an active painter at the Engawala Art Centre. The theme in Maryanne’s paintings is often bush tucker that is found in the countryside around her community. Maryanne loves painting and is passionate about passing her skills and knowledge on to her two daughters. She’s also been involved in painting on the metal megafauna figures for the Alcoota museum.
Maryanne was recognised for her contribution to the painting “Walking in Two Worlds” purchased by the Attorney Generals Department in Canberra after being exhibited at the Vincent Lingiari Art Awards, 2016
